Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week Of February 14 | KWXX – Hilo, HI

The Department of Transportation has announced a number of lane closures throughout Hawaiʻi Island for the week of February 14.  Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  Below is a detailed list of scheduled roadwork and maintenance:

KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —

KEAUHOU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 117 and 118, Walua Road and Sunset Drive, through Monday, Feb. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching and tree trimming.

KEAUHOU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 117 and 119, Walua Road and Hawaii Belt Road, through Friday, Feb. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching and mowing.

 — MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —

MOUNTAIN VIEW (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 19 and 20, 1st Road and Volcano Road, through Monday, Feb. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching, tree trimming and mowing work.

MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 19 and 21, 1st Road and Omeka Road, on Tuesday, Feb. 15 through Friday, Feb. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching, tree trimming and mowing work.

HONAUNAU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 89 and 90, Papalani Road and Hawaii Belt Road, on Tuesday, Feb. 15 through Friday, Feb. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

HONAUNAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 90 and 92, Papalani Road and Ohia Malu Road, through Monday, Feb. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

— HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) —

HAKALAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaiʻi Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 13 and 15, Pua Street and Old Mamalahoa Highway through Monday, Feb. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting. 

HAKALAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction near mile marker 13.8, near Kolekole Beach Park, through Friday, Feb. 18, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., for bridge repair work. 

HONOMU (24/7 RESTRICTION)

Kolekole Bridge at mile marker 14.27 on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) is weight restricted to 12 tons (24,000 lbs.) until further notice. The speed limit in the area is reduced to 25 mph. See https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/weight-limit-for-kolekole-bridge-now-12-tons/ for details.

NINOLE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 19 and 20, Hanamalo Lane and Hawaii Belt Road, on Tuesday, Feb. 15 through Friday, Feb. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree trimming and shoulder work. 

PAPAALOA (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 21 and 22.5, Hawaii Belt Road and Koi Loop, through Monday, Feb. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree trimming and shoulder work. 

— PAHOA-KALAPANA ROAD (ROUTE 130) —

PAHOA

Single lane closure on Pahoa-Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction near mile marker 15.4, Alaili Road, on Monday, Feb. 14 through Friday, Feb. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for pavement and guardrail improvements.

— MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) —

KAMUELA (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 2 and 4, near Saddle Road, through Monday, Feb. 14, and between mile markers 2 and 3, on Tuesday, Feb. 15 through Friday, Feb. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for landscaping and shoulder work.

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 3.9 and 6.9, near Saddle Road, on Monday, Feb. 14 through Friday, Feb. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for shoulder widening, rumble strip installation and other safety improvements.

— KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) —

KAMUELA (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile markers 7 and 10, near Kohala Ranch Road, through Friday, Feb. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for landscaping and shoulder work.

—  PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) —

HILO

Closure of single lane at a time on Puainako Street (Route 2000) in both directions near mile marker 0.8, Kinoole Street, on Tuesday, Feb. 15 through Wednesday, Feb. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for shoulder widening, rumble strip installation and other safety improvements.
